Queen Mary

We were able to spend the night on the Queen Mary. We had the chance to tour parts of the boat at night time. We had reached the R deck of the ship. When you come out of the elevator there is a little platform and staircase (center). To the left there is a unique curved doorway (left). The R deck was the former first class dining and swimming pool area. We were the only ones down there. Ted and I were looking around. I turned and saw Travis still standing on the platform by the elevator. He looked petrified. When I got him to talk he ran off the ship and refused to come back to even get in the elevator. We had to go around the boat and enter from the main gangway. He said that someone bumped into him and laughed. He was so scared that when we went down to the R deck on our tour the next day I had to pack him and he shook the whole time we were down there. So I guess Travis had his own ghostly encounter with the ghosts they say haunt the area around the swimming pool.

There is also a Russian sub next to the Queen Mary. We toured the sub. It was EXTREMELY small. They said it held 75 people and since there wasn't even bunk space they slept in shifts. When you went from one section to another in the sub you had to go through these tubes (center). The bunks were all throughout the sub. They did not really have any rooms to sleep in. Many times the bunks where just out in the open (right).
