Water Polo

Ted had his big 3 day winterfest water polo tournament this weekend. He played with the 10 and under team on Saturday and Sunday. He played goalie for one game and had some good saves. He also scored his first two goals in water polo. He was excited except that the team lost all of their games. He usually plays with the 12 year olds but they didn't have enough 10 year olds. He was upset because the 12 year olds played for medals.

Basketball

Travis is in the middle of basketball season right now. He plays center but also brings the ball up on out of bounds plays. He also steals the ball quite a bit and brings the ball up. Apparently he has the best ball handling skills on the team. He is not happy about one of his teammates who shoots over 30 times a game and makes maybe 2 on a good day. If the teammate thinks about passing the pass is so terrible that it is a turn over. Travis is the only kid on the team with any assists. I guess the concept of team work is not understood by 8 year olds. They finally won their first game this weekend.

Oustanding Math Award

Travis won an outstanding math award for having the highest score on the math facts quizzes. He can do 100 math facts correctly is less than 3 minutes.

Travis' Birthday

Well, Travis turned 8 on Feb 4. We had a family night at John's Incredible Pizza. Travis will be baptized on Feb 20.

Basketball

Well Travis finally got his cast of his hand and has been cleared to play sports. His first basketball practice is tonight. Ted is still playing water polo. He has the Santa Barbara Youth Water Polo Tournament this week so we will be in Santa Barbara Saturday and Sunday. Regardless of winning or losing you always play 6 games in 2 days.

We are staying busy and trying not to float away in all the rain. At least my classroom did not flood yesterday like some did. And my roof is not leaking either so what more could you ask for.

New Kittens

When we arrived in Idaho Ted's cat Zues was missing. We thought he might be over at the neighbors but unfortunately yesterday Ted found his cat dead on the side of the road. Ted adopted a 6 month old cat he has named Bella (top) Travis has claimed a kitten at Grandma's house named Kelly. (bottom) Of course the cats will stay at grandma and grandpa's house. But the boys love to play with them. Kelly has torn apart the Christmas tree and Bella will demand attention when she wants it.
